Dressing Room Tour

Hi Everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I have a short but sweet post for you. Craig and I have just finished decorating our dressing room and today I wanted you show you the finished result.
It has always been my dream as a little girl to have my own walk-in-wardrobe/ dressing room and buying this house has allowed for that dream to come true. I knew that I wanted open plan wardrobes so you could see all of our clothes, which gives the room a boutique feel. So, we opted for the Ikea pax wardrobes as you can customise the compartments and size of the wardrobes. Naturally I gave myself more space over craig but I am so pleased with how it turned out.
We were lucky that the wardrobes we're delivered a few days after we completed, back in December and Craig and his dad worked extremely hard building these. I am proud to say that I did assist and was able to build one drawer by myself in the end.
Having the clothes all on show means that I have to keep my wardrobe organised at all times which is easy for me but not so much for Craig, however I am happy to take control of the dressing room and keep everything in it's place. The first time I unpacked our clothes and put everything away was so therapeutic and I am quite particular where everything goes once we hang the clothes back up afte a wash load. It’s the little things in the life that make me happy...
Once again, as the wardrobe is an open plan I knew I wanted to purchase some athletically pleasing hangers so I chose a nude and gold colour for myself and black for Craig. Overall I am thrilled with the finished result of the wardrobes and I’m overjoyed that we decided on the pax system.

I knew that since the wardrobes were white I wanted to have a matching dressing table area at the other side of the room therefore I chose to stick with products from Ikea. Being a lover of beauty products it was important to me that I had plenty of drawer and table top space for my makeup. Along with having the open plan wardrobe I knew that I would have loved to get a Hollywood mirror, although when looking
online we saw that they were extortionately priced. Whilst shopping in Ikea we sawa show room with a DIY Hollywood mirror and it looked absolutely perfect, and at a fraction of the price.ALong with my makeup mirror I chose to have a full length mirror to use when picking an outfit, which we have placed next to the dressing table. This huge mirror was from Ikea and is the perfect finishing touch to the room. The next step was styling the dressing table. I wanted to tie in colours such as gold, nude and black and keep the desk looking clear and simple. I chose to display a few items of makeup on top along with a bit of greenery to brighten things up a little. Finally, I purchased a couple prints from desenio and then the room was complete. I cannot express how happy I am to have my dream dressing room. It's the perfect space to get ready in and I'm so grateful that we were able to create the room I have always wanted.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you so much for reading, have a great week!

Elemis Peptide Thousand Flower Mask | Review

Ensuring that you get the right amount of beauty sleep is vital as your body repairs itself during those eight hours, allowing your skin to look it's best. Elemis has created a skincare range specifically for your circadian cycle which works whilst you sleep to reveal a brighter and smoother complextion, giving you the look of well rested skin. I have tried all the products from this range however one stood out to me inparticular, and that's the Thousand Flower Mask, so today I am going to be reviewing this product for you.

The Elemis Peptide Thousand Flower Mask is available at simpsonsbeautygroup.com and retails for £37. The mask comes in a tube which means it's easily dispenced and more hygienic as you're not dipping into a jar. I love the smooth purple gradiant packaging, it's sleek, modern yet practical.

The mask's texture is unlike anything I've ever felt before. It contains brazillian black clay which allows for a velvety and mousse- like consistency. However, like traditional clay masks, this product does not dry out the skin. The clay works to purify and smooth the texture of the skin, whilst helping to reduce any excess oil.

The key ingredients in this mask is what makes it unique. The peptide blend is designed to synchronize with your internal clock, releasing the essential ingredients to repair your skin. Lack of sleep disrupts skin's natural recovery process, leading to a dull, dehydrated complexion. This mask helps to restore essential moisture and antioxidants needed for a healthy-looking skin.

It contains nordic peat, developed over thousands of years, which is rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants to improve skin radiance and revitalise dull, lackluster skin. One fact to be aware of is that the nordic peat can stain, so always use a dark wash cloth to remove.
Admittedly, you do look a little like you've been cleaning chimney's with this black coloured mask on, but those 15 minutes are worth it for the results that you get.
After removing the mask, you will instantly feel a nice cooling sensation which leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean.

I find this mask to be one of the most luxurious mask's I have ever tried. The floral fragrance is so calming and the skin appears brighter after just one use.

This product is a beautiful skin treat and combined with the rest of the peptide range. it's an unbeatable skincare routine.

Getting a Professional Facial | The Benefits

What are the benefits of getting a professional facial from a skincare expert?
If you're seeking clearer and healthier skin, recieving a facial and getting expert advice can make a dramatic difference to your skin. Here are my reasons why:

1. Skin Consultation
When browsing online or in a department store it can be difficult to know what products suit your skin needs, especially if you're unsure of what your skintype is. That is why I believe one of the most valuable components of a facial is the skin consultation.
Before your treatment begins your therapist will discuss with you your lifestyle, current routine and any skin concerns that you may have. Once they have cleansed the skin they are able to asses your skin type through looking at the apperance of the skin and feeling it's texture. This will help with the selection of products to allow them to create a personalised treatment that caters to your skins needs. They are also able to create a customised homecare routine to help you achieve the best results.

2. Prevention
If you're already happy with your skin, why get a facial?
The honest truth is that getting regular facial's can help to prevent future skin concerns that may appear- from the first signs of aging, dehydration and breakouts. Recieving a monthly facial can help you to maintain healthy skin, as it's always better to prevent rather than have to fix.

3. Exfoliation
Your skin needs to get rid of the waste that it accumulates on a regular basis, but when this is not done correctly it can lead to breakouts. That's why a skin detox is necessary. Exfoliation is a crucual part of the facial as it removes the top layer of dead skin cells which allows for a deeper penetration of the moisturising products. Exfoliation increases your skin's ability to absorb oils, serums and moisturiser effictively and leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft.

4. Increase Circulation
There is no doubt that when blood circulation slows, the skin's health is impaired. Aging leads to slow circulation which inevitably results in dull, tired looking skin. One important benefit of a facial is massage to the face. This process helps to increase blood flow bringing nutrients to the skin and it will encourage a youthful radiance and glow to the surface of the skin.

5. Relaxation
Aside from the various skin benefits facials offer, they are also extremly relaxing and provide an immediate stress release. Facials can include neck and shoulder, head and hand massages which allow you to feel ultimately pampered. The room has dim lighting, soft music and a warm bed, creating the ideal environment to completely unwind. An hour of relaxation is definetly something we all need after this stressful time and facial's have always been my go-to.

I hope you enjoyed this post about the benefit's of a professional facial. Performing facials as a Beauty Therapist is a pleasure, and that's why it's one of my favourite treatments to do. I love seeing the results that can be seen after just one treatment and working along side my client to create a bespoke skincare routine with our Elemis products. If you would like to try one of our Facial's or you think that you're in need of a pamper yourself, visit our webite www.simpsonsbeauty.com and get booked in ready for when we reopen.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter | Review

Hi Everyone,

Whilst in Paris we made a trip to Sephora to browse their selection of products and whilst at the Charlotte Tilbury counter I spotted the Hollywood Flawless Filter. I have quite the collection of Charlotte Tilbury products already and knowing that everything I have previously tried from her range I have loved, I thought I would pick this product up to give it a go.

Upon purchase I assumed that this product would be a light coverage foundation however it doesn’t necessarily fit into that foundation category, according to it’s description. It is described as a complexion enhancing illuminating primer and in all honesty it does exactly that but with added coverage, which is why I have been using it as my foundation.
For my normal to dry skin type this product is perfect for winter when I want a healthy dewy look that isn’t too heavy, like fuller coverage foundations can be. It makes the skin feel plumped, radiant and evens out any imperfections, whilst still looking natural.
In terms of the finish, it feels juicy and hydrating but without being greasy. I do feel this product is best suited to someone with a dry skin as the glossy look might be too much for an oily complexion.
I went for shade one however as it is not advertised as a foundation the shade range isn’t very precise. As it’s technically a primer it doesn’t need a whole lot of blending into the hair line however because of the coverage it does need somewhat blending to prevent leaving marks or streaks behind. I used this product with a beauty blender and follow up with a concealer for further coverage under the eyes and on any blemishes. Charlotte Tilbury herself recommends using this product over foundation on the high points of the face to highlight which would be great for an oiler skin as you can mattify the oily areas and highlight where needed.

All in all, this product to me is like glow in a bottle. It’s not full coverage, your skin still looks natural  but slightly perfected. So for ladies who like a matte finish this product is not for you, but my glowy girls will love this!
Have you tried the Hollywood Flawless Filter? If so, what are your thoughts? Are there any other Charlotte Tilbury products you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below...

Style Diary | Valentine’s in Paris

Hi Everyone,

Craig and I have just got back from a weekend away in Paris, for Valentine’s Day. Not only was this trip to have some time off for Valentines but it was to treat ourselves and celebrate buying our first house together. This was a well needed break to have some quality time together after the stress of moving in, which happened over Christmas. We had four days seeing the sights of Paris and I made sure to take pictures of my outfits throughout our trip, so if you would like to see what I wore in the fashion capital that is Paris, keep on reading.

Day 1-
We travelled for the majority of our first day and arrived in Paris just after lunch. We walked a fair way from the train station to our hotel but it was fantastic to get a real taste of the city on our walk. Once we arrived at our hotel, Hotel Eiffle Turenne, we dropped off our bags and went off to explore. A few hours later we came back to get changed and decided to view the Eiffle Tower on the hour as it sparkled. Luckily our hotel was only a ten minute walk to the eiffle tower so we were able to see it light up most nights. Then, after some food we went back to the hotel to rest ready for a busy day tomorrow.

Day 2- The next day we went to Disneyland! We were up bright and early, had a quick breakfast at the hotel and caught the Disney shuttle bus to the park. We had tickets to both parks and spent the entire day exploring all that there is to offer. We went to the studios first, stopped for lunch and then went over to the main park. We luckily didn’t have to queue for too long on the rides and managed to go on all of the ones we were interested in. We saw the parade at lunch time which was so magical and loved the illuminations show in the evening, singing along to all the Disney classics. We arrived back at the hotel just after 9pm and chilled for the rest of the evening.

Day 3- Our third day was Valentines Day in which we spent it exploring the city. In the morning we had breakfast at Angelina’s which is famous for their delicious Hot Chocolates. Once we were full on eggs, fruit and pastries we did a spot of shopping, stopped for some pizza and then headed to the Eiffle Tower. It was very busy queuing for the Eiffle Tower however eventually we managed to reach the top and the views were breathtaking! We then walked behind the Eiffle Tower and got onto our Seine river cruise to finish off the evening.

Day 4- On our final day we had a well deserved lie in after walking an average of 25,000 steps a day. We steadily packed up our bags and had breakfast down in the hotel. Before check out we went for one final walk and got a few supplies from the supermarket for our travels home. We then walked across Paris with our suitcases to the train station, soaking up the views one final time. We made sure to make one final pit stop at Laduree to get some macaroons for pudding!

We had the best weekend in Paris and would happily visit again! The whole atmosphere in the city is indescribable and it’s a trip we will never forget. I do wish that we had more time as there is so much to see in such a short space of time. If you are yet to visit Paris I would certainly recommend it and we would love to visit again one year during the summer.

I hope you enjoyed this lookbook/ insight into our holiday to Paris. Do you have any trips planned this year? Let me know in the comments below.

Life Update | We bought a house!

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to my blog.

First of all, I want to apologise for the lack of content recently however I can assure you that I have a good excuse...

I am so overjoyed to announce that my boyfriend and I have finally bought our first home together, and we could not be happier!

This whole process started last September when we began looking seriously online for houses. We knew the area we wanted to purchase in and after completing a mortgage offer form online we had a rough idea of our budget. Things got serious when we found a house that we truly loved! We hadn’t planned on looking round any homes or even considering starting the process until the new year however when we saw this house come up on the market we knew that it was a sign, so we booked a viewing.

We knew that we wanted to find an older property with a bit of character, that we could make our own. I had a few pointers such as the fact I wanted a three bedroom with a good size garden and preferably a downstairs toilet (which is something older houses don’t typically have) and when this particular house came up ticking all of those boxes and more, we decided to place an offer.

There had been a lot of interest in the house already and it had only been up for a few days once we found it, so for that reason we acted quickly as we really didn’t want to lose this opportunity. To our delight, the offer was accepted and we then went on to find a mortgage advisor and solicitors. The entire process of purchasing a house is long, slow and stressful especially when doing so around Christmas time. We completed the purchase on December 19th and were able to move in before Christmas 2019! I worked extra hours over Christmas as it's a very busy time in the salon however Craig was able to take time off to build furniture and decorate the house. He did an incredible job along with our family at getting the house ready for us to move in! For us, buying a home together is an amazing achievement and we are so lucky and grateful to be in a position to do this at such a young age. We are finally feeling settled in the house and slowly but surely we will get everyone decorated exactly how we want it to look. All of our family have now visited the house and we are very much looking forward to the future and all the memories we will make in our home.

I am so pleased that I am able to use this blog to share my life journey with you, as well as my beauty knowledge, and I can assure you that I will be back on schedule with my blog posts from here on out.

Thank you for reading this post. Let me know in the comments, would you like to see some home content on my blog too? Perhaps a house tour, interior inspiration or cleaning tips? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Have a great week.

With love,
