Face Halo | First Impressions

Hey everyone, I'm back today with a first impressions post for you.
I recently popped into Boots to have a sneaky look at their Christmas gifts and stumbled across the Face Halo. I'd never seen them in store before and had only heard about them through Chloe promoting her product on her Instagram.
This 'game-changing', echo friendly sponge is said to remove all your makeup by simply adding water and when hearing this my first thought was "How can a fluffy pad remove all makeup including stubborn mascara, with only water?". I wondered whether it was all a gimmick and something that had just been hyped about, so for that reason i had to give it a try.
So, how does it work? Adding water to the pad helps loosen your makeup allowing the 'halotech fibre strands' to reach deep into your pores and remove and trap makeup. This sponge is designed to be used gently on the skin meaning there is no need to rub or scrub however for heavier eye makeup you can hold the pad over the eyes for 10 seconds to break down the product.
I paid £7 for one pad which I thought wasn't too bad since they claim you can get two hundred uses out of one product. They recommend that after every use you hand wash with soap and water and when cleaning your Face Halo in the washing machine you add it in with similar colours.

After a long day of working with a full face of makeup on, i arrived home and decided it was time to test out my Face Halo. After a few swipes I was pleasantly surprised! For some strange reason i was expecting the product not to work however it certainly removed my makeup and did it gently without irritating the skin. The pad soon went from a bright white to a shade of brown so i turned the pad over and used the clean side to test if there was any makeup left on my skin. The Face Halo did an extremely good job at removing makeup and works well as a quick fix in the evening, but according to the Face Halo there is no need to cleanse afterwards. As a beauty therapist i understand the importance of thoroughly cleansing the skin so i made sure to follow up with my facial wash afterwards. I feel that this product is a great alternative to the dreaded makeup wipes that millions of women still use but I would never use the Face Halo as my only cleanse. I think Chloe has created something quite revolutionary and i feel this product should be spoken about more. For those who find makeup wipes 'easier' than cleansing with a product and wash cloth, the Face Halo is a much better alternative. It's chemical free so wont dry the skin out as makeup wipes do and it would stop us throwing away billions of wipes a year (which take 100 years to decompose).

My final thoughts?
I enjoyed using this product and will continue to use it as my first cleanse as it works wonders removing makeup. I think the Face Halo is ideal for travel or after a night out and I would absolutely recommend that if you haven't tried it that you give it a go.

Elemis Superfood Oil | Product Review

The Elemis Superfood Facial Oil has been raved about for the longest time and since recently discovering Elemis products and doing some research I knew from my findings that this product in particular was one that I had to try. But the question is, is it truly worth the hype?

Facial oils are a must-have in my skincare routine especially this time of year as my skin can begin to feel much drier. The ingredients in this particular oil seemed impressive which was one of the reasons I was so eager to try it. It contains ingredients like flaxseed and broccoli which are known to seal in moisture within the skin.
The one thing that stood out to me after first use was how glowy it made my skin feel after application and this has continued since using it. I prefer to use the oil during the evening however it can be used morning too. It applies smoothly, smells gorgeous and sinks into the skin quickly.
If you're not using a facial oil in your routine and you're wondering whether to try one, now would be the time to do so with this oil. I always find that this time of year as it approaches Christmas my diet starts to plummet and that can take it's toll on my skin however this product is going to be my skin saviour. This product has 9 essential oils within it and it's packed with natural plant ingredients such as broccoli, cucumber oil, raddish, flax seed and macadamia oil therefore this oil gives my skin the luminosity and healthy dewy look that it needs. I have seen a huge improvement in the texture and appearance of my skin since using this product and can't wait to continue using and loving it.

Is this oil suitable for you?

If your skin is feeling dull, lifeless, lacking nourishment and hydration you MUST try this product! You may be seeing the first signs of aging and your skin is lacking nutrients however with this oil your skin will be intoxicated with key omega and fatty acids to condition the skin. For those of you with oily skin do not feel that you need to shy away from this oil because of its hydrating properties as it can actually help to balance the oils in your skin so it's definitely worth a try.

All in all, I am loving this oil and would 100% recommend it to YOU. I am now jumping on the hype of the Elemis Superfood Oil and cannot wait to try more products from this range. Are there any products in particular that you think I should try and review? Let me know in the comments below.

Decleor Cica-Botanic Balm | Product Review

I have always heard great things about Decleor products but up until a few months ago I had never tried any of their products. For my first Decleor product I decided to try the Cica-Botanic Balm as I was intrigued by It's claims and benefits.

100% Natural Cica-Botanic Balm Description:

"Cocoon skin in the soothing texture of Decleor Cica-Botanic Balm, a multi-purpose essential oil enriched balm that will soothe, repair and protect skin. ... The inclusion of geranium essential oil will cocoon your skin with its protective properties, strengthening your skin and repairing it.
100% of consumers found their skin was nourished and extreme dry patches were relieved
93% found their skin was less irritated and more comfortable."

The key ingredients in this balm are wonderful and this is to be expected by Decleor, an aromatherapy brand. Some of the main ingredients include Centella Asiactica which is known to reduce skin irritation, Eucalyptus Essential Oil for healing, Rosemary Essential Oil for hydration, Niaouli Essential Oil for soothing and Geranium Essential Oil for protection.

I have been using this product for a month, post cleanse and tone. This is a multi purpose product that you can not only use of the face but the body too. This balm can be used on dry skin almost anywhere. Including but not limited to face, lips, cuticles, dry heels, elbows and more.
This balm is very oily and melts in your hands, I find the texture of the balm to be too much for day time so I've been sticking to using it in the evenings. When I wake up in the morning my skin feels soft and fully hydrated. A product like this, in my opinion is one that you have to stick with as It's definitely grown on me after seeing the improvement in the condition of my skin. Due to the ingredients in the balm it does have a strong scent and one that can be either loved or hated by the consumer. I personally enjoy the scent and find it very therapeutic and relaxing. When I apply the product I genuinely feel like I am having a spa treatment and to me it feels like a treat.

Who is this product best for?

I believe that all skin types could use this product but it's especially ideal for those with sensitive skin who suffer with eczema or psoriasis. Testing new products when you have sensitive skin can be difficult as It's important to look for key ingredients designed for delicate complexions. This balm is nourishing and specifically designed for drier skin to soothe and hydrate. Due to it's lightweight texture I believe most skin types would suit this balm, perhaps more so on winter evenings. For those with post inflammatory pigmentation from acne it's fantastic at soothing redness, irritation and for healing the skin.

Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying using this product and can feel an improvement in the texture and appearance of my skin. Have you tried any Decleor products? If so, what are your favourites? Let's chat in the comments below!

My 20th Birthday

Since my last blog post I have turned a whole year older! I have said goodbye to my teenage years which is a very strange feeling. It seems like I should now be better at adulting without ‘teen’ at the end of my age but I’m hoping I will magically wake on an up-and-coming date feeling like a whole new woman that’s ready to take on the world!
Today I’m going to be sharing with you what I did to celebrate my 20th birthday! I had a really lovely day and I thought I would write a blog post about it. I’ll be honest in saying that I was unprepared for my birthday this year as it came around so quickly and knowing that I didn’t have a huge party planned and that I hadn't asked for any gifts I wasn't counting down the days to August 8th. As my boyfriend and I are saving for a house we decided not to do gifts this year so instead we had a low budget birthday celebration. With that being said, it was a wonderful day with beautiful weather and great company.

In the morning we woke up and opened up all my cards in bed. After chilling for a bit we got up, showered and I did my hair and makeup. We then started the day the right way by having a delicious cooked breakfast.

After breakfast we headed to the lakes on our bikes. We cycled for over an hour exploring the lakes and beautiful surroundings. We came across ducks, geese and swans and decided to feed them some of our picnic which was very entertaining. We sat down for a picnic and I had my little birthday cupcake. The weather was luckily stunning as the rest of the weeks forecast was rain!
After a wonderful bike ride around the lakes we took our bikes home and headed into town for a walk to grab an ice cream. We walked up the hill to a gelato shop and I treated myself to a tub of mint choc chip.

Top & Shorts: Topshop
Sandals: Newlook

We were very grateful to receive a voucher for Zizzis which is where we had our evening meal. We ordered a Garlic bread, Spaghetti Bolognese and Rustica Pizza. After a lovely meal we headed home and watched movies and ate plenty of birthday chocolate. Overall, it was a relaxing and chilled birthday!

Jumpsuit: Phase Eight
Shoes: Newlook

I hope you enjoyed this short and sweet post about my 20th birthday.

Style Diary | Holiday in Kos, Greece

After a week full of joy at the Oceanis Resort in Kos we are back to the UK, feeling relaxed and truthfully looking forward to the next trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday on the tiny island with so much character, that is Kos. Our hotel resort was breathtaking with huge grounds and a private beach area. Everything was perfection including the food, rooms, views and entertainment. For me the excitement of preparing to go on holiday starts with the outfit planning and I always look forward to taking photos of everything we get up to whilst away. So, of course I had to do another look book this year. If you would like to see what I wore whilst in Kos, Greece then please carry on reading...

DAY 1

During our first day in Kos we took a walk around the hotel grounds, which is a mighty plot of land might I add. Our hotel had 2 pools, four restaurants, a private beach area, mini golf course, tennis courts, 3 bars and huge areas of greenery which made for quite the walk. After finding our bearings we got into our swimwear and headed for the main pool. As we arrived there was water aerobics in the pool which really made for a great start to the holiday. It was such a laugh and so much fun! After lunch and a chill out session by the pool we went back up to the room to get ready for the evening. On our first evening we went to explore the best spots to take pictures, had dinner, drinks and enjoyed the night time entertainment. And this marked the first night of a fantastic holiday....

DAY 2

On day two we took a trip into Kos Town Centre. Our hotel was approximately a 10 minute drive away from the town square. The town square was a busy place with quaint streets, quirky buildings and plenty of restaurants. We soon realised that this area of the world has crazy moped drivers that come out of nowhere and certainly won’t stop for anyone...
We hoped back on the bus and to the hotel for a spot of lunch and ended the afternoon with a swim,
water polo and sun tanning. Tonight was the Gala Dinner at our hotel with the dress code of black and
white. All of the guests and staff were dressed to impress and it was an elegant evening with good
food and music.

 DAY 3

On our third day we got a boat over to Bodrum, Turkey. Kos is next door to Bodrum and only takes 40 minute to drive over. We spent the full day in Turkey exploring the town and it’s narrow streets, traditional houses and markets with salesmen wanting to bargain with you. The day was a great chance to enter the east with it's distinct smell of spices and to experience it’s culture first hand. In the evening we had a glorious meal and chilled by the bar until it was time for bed.

DAY 4

After a busy few days exploring Kos and Turkey we decided to have a completely chilled day on Saturday by the pool and the beach. We woke up and had a beautiful breakfast in the sunshine, relaxed on the beds by the pool, joined water aerobics, had a swim and did all that you’re supposed to do on a summer holiday. During the evening we had our meal and chatted by the bar until it was dark.

DAY FIVE
On Sunday (our final full day) we spent the morning sunbathing by the pool and making the most out of the beautiful weather. During the afternoon there were free hand and arm massages which as a Beauty Therapist I can really appreciate. After lunch we visited the hotel Spa and spent an hour in the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and laying on the loungers. On our final evening we took a walk around the hotel grounds, played a few games of pool and watched the evening entertainment.
The following day we got up, packed up our belongings and left for the airport in the evening after dinner. We spent the majority of this day soaking up the sun and reminiscing on what had been a fabulous holiday and one we will never forget.

Thank you for reading my Kos Style Diary and I hope this post gave you some holiday outfit inspiration. If you're thinking about visiting Kos for your next holiday I would 100% recommend it. Our hotel the 'Oceanis Beach and Spa Resort' is also a gem of a hotel and one of the best in Kos, in my opinion.
Also, be sure to follow  my Instagram as that is where I posted other pictures from the holiday on my story: @Jodielbeauty
